Santo Domingo. – The spokesperson for the National Police, Diego Pesqueira, referred this Monday to the death of the young Rancel García, 25 years old, which occurred during a police intervention in the Villa Consuelo sector, in the National District, and informed that the internal control bodies of the institution have taken over the investigations since yesterday.
Pesqueira explained that a mixed patrol, made up of members of the National Police and the Armed Forces, acted at the scene, as part of the preventive work being carried out in the area. He indicated that the case is under analysis to determine the circumstances in which the incident occurred.
In contrast, the deceased's mother, Milkelena García, offered a different version of what happened. She assured that the agents arrived abruptly at the place where a Christmas dinner was being held, threw pepper spray and subsequently the shooting occurred, denying that it was an exchange of gunfire.

"They were coming behind a speaker that wasn't turned up; as soon as they arrived they threw gas and everything started," declared the young man's mother, who reiterated her demand for justice and a transparent investigation. As investigations progress, family members and community members continue to demand clarification of the event and sanctions, in case irregularities in police action are proven.
