With the aim of boosting the competitiveness, productivity, and international positioning of companies in the Northern Region, the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) and the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago signed an inter-institutional agreement aimed at strengthening the capacities of the productive sectors and promoting new opportunities in global markets.
During the signing, the executive director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla, highlighted that this alliance represents a decisive step to consolidate the economic growth of Santiago, a province that has become one of the most dynamic in Dominican foreign trade. “This agreement was made with the purpose of contributing to the economic strengthening of the Northern Region in the global market, and in this way favor its development, competitiveness and profitability. Santiago has a strategic role in the country's exports and today we reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting its growth”, expressed Riveiro.
The most recent figures confirm the province's positioning as a high-impact export hub. In 2024 alone, Santiago's exports reached US$1,509.2 million, registering a year-on-year increase of 2.7%, equivalent to an additional US$40.1 million. This performance allowed local companies to place goods in international markets, with an offer of 1,211 products made by 271 active exporters. For the year 2025, with data accumulated up to October, the province maintains a favorable trend. Exports amount to US$1,350.9 million, with a more robust year-on-year growth of 6.2%, representing an additional US$79.3 million. This result is supported by a growing export diversification, reaching 131 markets, 1,228 products, and 266 exporting companies, reaffirming Santiago as a high-performance production hub.The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago, Luis Campos Jorge, valued the alliance as a strategic opportunity to boost innovation and the international presence of the province's companies. “For the Chamber, this agreement means more than a signature: it is a commitment to the sustainable growth of our productive sectors. Santiago is synonymous with work, talent and export capacity, and together with ProDominicana we will continue to create the necessary conditions for our companies to conquer more markets and increase their competitiveness”, Jorge affirmed.
