Puerto Plata. – The Summer National Baseball League All-Star Game became a historic event for Dominican baseball, bringing together the best talents of summer baseball on Saturday, August 23, at the José Briceño stadium in Puerto Plata, in a day that included the expected Home Run Derby and the All-Star game.
The afternoon began with the Home Run Derby, in which the home run leaders from the six teams in the league participated. The spectacle culminated with the crowning of Luis González, from the Reales de Santiago and a member of the Patria team, who prevailed in the final against Junior Sanquintín, from the Granjeros de Moca and representing the Libertad team. González received a cash prize of RD$ 30,000 as the winner of the competition.
Subsequently, the main course of the day was played: the All-Star Game, where the Libertad team, made up of the Granjeros de Moca, Bravos de La Vega and Mineros de Bonao, defeated the Patria team, made up of Reales de Santiago, Arroceros de San Francisco de Macorís and Atléticos de Puerto Plata, with a shutout 7-0.
The opening ceremony was marked by a special recognition of the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista, for his contributions to the development of the season and the celebration of the event. In addition, General Jorge Luis Galán, of the National Police, was in charge of the honorary launch.
In the match, player Daury Arias, from the Granjeros de Moca, shone with a three-run home run and a walk, a performance that earned him being elected Most Valuable Player. Arias also received a cash prize of RD$ 30,000.
As part of the celebration, all players, coaches, and managers received a participation medal courtesy of LOGOMARCA.
The official broadcast of the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game was handled by VTV Channel 32, bringing the excitement of the event to the entire country.
