Punta Cana. – The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, urged Dominican producers to diversify crops and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the international market, as a way to continue strengthening the growth of the agricultural sector.
Peña made the statement during his participation in the closing of the 4th National Congress of Agricultural Producers, organized by the National Confederation of Agricultural Producers (Confenagro).
The vice president highlighted the importance of observing the behavior of international markets to identify new products with cultivation potential in the country, which would allow progress towards a more resilient and competitive agriculture.

For his part, the president of Confenagro, Wilfredo Cabrera, explained that this edition of the congress allowed to reach conclusions and commitments between the productive sector and the Government in view of the future of Dominican agricultural production.Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture, Francisco Oliverio Espaillat, described the meeting as an opportunity to analyze current trends in the sector, noting that both authorities and producers must adapt to technological changes to stay aligned with the new dynamics of agricultural production. The congress began last Friday and brought together producers, authorities, and sector specialists, with an agenda aimed at analyzing the challenges of the Dominican countryside and promoting new tools to strengthen its development.“Without innovation, the Dominican field would not advance and, as our motto says, without production there is no nation,” Cabrera expressed.
