WE WILL UNITE 637 professionals and call for national unity to promote educational reform

Rector highlights the need for an alliance between government, academia, and society to ensure a sustainable educational transformation. Santo Domingo.– The Eugenio María de Hostos University (UNIREMHOS) celebrated its sixty-sixth ordinary graduation, in which 637 professionals received their degrees in undergraduate, higher technical, and master's programs. During the ceremony, the rector of UNIREMHOS, Wady Ramírez, stated that the educational reform demanded by the country will only be possible if the government, academia, and society assume a joint commitment, with clear goals, monitoring, and continuity, after President Luis Abinader announced in his accountability the promotion of a legislative and curricular reform to redesign the Dominican educational system, with the aim of forming the human capital necessary to double the size of the economy by the year 2036. Ramírez underlined that “education must be taken as a national project sustained over time, with permanent evaluation, strengthening of school management, sustainable educational infrastructure and a culture of continuous improvement aligned to the challenges of development”.

From the total promotion, the nursing career concentrated 64.36% of the graduates, remaining as the program with the greatest representation in this investiture. While accounting and auditing represented 9.10%, followed by law with 7.85% and business administration with 5.65%. Marketing contributed 3.77% of the total graduates. In the technological field, computer systems registered 3.45%, while dentistry reached 1.73%. Social Communication represented 0.63%, medicine 0.31% and the higher technician program in nursing 0.16%. At the postgraduate level, the Master's in Public Health corresponded to 2.51% of the promotion and the Master's in Pediatric Nursing to 0.47%.

Academic excellence and a vocation for service mark the honorary speech

Johanna Corporán, a nursing graduate and student with the highest academic index of the class, offered a moving thank you speech in which she highlighted that the achievement is the result of years of effort, discipline, and perseverance. In his speech, he emphasized that university education not only involves acquiring technical knowledge, but also assuming an ethical and human responsibility, particularly in the exercise of professions related to the health area. Likewise, he urged his colleagues to practice with commitment and a vocation for service.
