Bayaguana. – María Antonia Reyes, 21 years old and a resident of the La Esperanza sector, requested this Saturday the intervention of the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the president of the Republic in order to obtain her identity card.
Reyes explained that she was abandoned by her mother at the age of five and that, for that reason, she has never been able to obtain an identity document, which prevents her from declaring her three children.
The young mother pointed out that the lack of an ID card has closed doors to multiple opportunities, and above all, prevents her from registering her children so that they have a birth certificate, medical insurance, and can access the education system.
"The only thing I want is an ID card so I can declare my children and they can have a better future," she expressed with evident concern.
The community of La Esperanza calls on the competent authorities to take this situation into account and provide an urgent solution to this young mother and her children, who run the risk of remaining in a state of social and legal vulnerability.
