Vice President Raquel Peña advocates for the financial inclusion of women

Santo Domingo. - The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, during her participation in “Woman, the stock market is for you”, pointed out this Saturday that the full financial inclusion of women is key to achieving a more just and resilient society and to boost economic growth.

“It is essential that women participate actively, not only as investors, but also as leaders and decision-makers who chart the course of this transformation,” said Raquel Peña during her participation as the keynote speaker at the event “Woman, the stock market is for you.”

Peña pointed out that the inclusion of women in the aforementioned financial scenario should not be an exception, but a norm.

Similarly, the vice president stated that talking about the presence of women in the stock market is not talking about quotas, “it is talking about opportunities, leadership, and the right to participate in the country's economic growth”.

In that sense, he stated that the current administration, under the leadership of President Luis Abinader, is working to open more paths, eliminate barriers, and financially empower more Dominican women.

To this end, they are promoting an economic model where technology and finance are at the service of people; where artificial intelligence, digitalization, and access to credit do not widen gaps, but rather reduce them.

The vice president highlighted that every time a woman studies, undertakes, or invests, she is opening an opportunity for another, and girls and young women must grow up knowing that “leadership has no gender, financial freedom is not a privilege, and their dreams are not utopia, but achievable goals.

The meeting was organized by the Superintendency of the Securities Market, led by Ernesto Bournigal Read, who highlighted the fundamental importance of women's financial education and inclusion for the growth of the market and the financial health of society, emphasizing that it is not an economic goal, but rather a tool for empowerment.

The event was designed to empower and inspire women to build a successful financial future and provide practical knowledge about the financial tools available in the Dominican stock market.
