Dominican Republic Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai has received over one million visitors

Osaka, Japan.- Since its opening last April, the Dominican Republic pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, which is being held in that city of Japan, more than a million people have visited this space, standing out as one of the most visited country exhibitions within the Commons-B building, a high-visibility area that hosts representations of countries from all over the world. In a joint press release from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Presidency, Tourism and Culture, as well as ProDominicana and the Dominican Embassy in Japan, coordinators of the country's participation in this important exhibition, these institutions highlighted that only in the month of May, the Dominican Republic stand received approximately 687,000 visitors. “Thanks to its visually striking design, its immersive cultural proposal, and its focus on connecting with the public through the attractions of the country, the Dominican pavilion has captured the attention of thousands of daily visitors who stop to learn about the richness of the Caribbean country. Hundreds of thousands of people have visited our pavilion to take photos and closely appreciate our exhibitions, which present aspects of our culture, history, tourism, music, sports, as well as a commercial sample with products such as coffee, cocoa, chocolate, rum, cigars, amber, larimar, fragrances, candles and textiles,” they explained in the press release. The profile of visitors so far has been very varied, from schoolchildren, young people and adults, to diplomats, businessmen and local officials such as the governor of Osaka, Hirofumi Yoshimura. Japanese media have also published articles about the Dominican Republic exhibition.

A platform for the future

The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, is a World Exposition organized by Japan and recognized as one of the most relevant international gatherings of the century. Under the theme "Designing future society for our lives", it brings together more than 160 countries and international organizations, with the aim of providing solutions to the great challenges of humanity. This edition of the Expo takes on special relevance as it is held just five years before the deadline set by the United Nations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As such, the Expo acts as a key platform to accelerate efforts towards global sustainability, promote innovation, and foster cooperation between cultures and nations. Inspired by the concept of "Society 5.0", the Expo is committed to a human-centered society, where technology and innovation are used to solve social challenges and improve people's quality of life. During its six months of operation, the number of visitors to the Expo is projected to exceed 28 million people, of whom, if the same level of attendance continues, more than 5 million people will visit the country's pavilion, get to know and connect with the Dominican Republic.
