Those who knew him highlight his firm character, his respected word, and his humane treatment. He was recognized for his loyalty to democratic ideals and his tireless efforts to strengthen the country's institutions.

A legacy beyond politics

In his personal life, he shared his life with Dr. Yadira Henríquez, with whom he formed a family and a solid political and social alliance. Together they promoted various initiatives aimed at the well-being of the most vulnerable sectors, consolidating themselves as a symbol couple of commitment to justice and social equity.

Born in the province Sánchez Ramírez, his homeland, Sánchez Baret always remained linked to the causes of his community. In one of his most remembered statements, he expressed: “You can be honest, political, and modern; society must understand the importance of that”. His death leaves a deep void in Dominican politics, but also a legacy of "decency, modernity, and public service" that transcends generations and consecrates him as a true paradigm of ethical leadership in the Dominican Republic.
