Sports Minister urges Dominican players to confirm participation in the World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo – The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, called on Dominican players who have not yet confirmed their participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, while congratulating and recognizing those who have already expressed their commitment to represent the country.

The message was broadcast through an audiovisual disseminated on social networks and digital platforms. "We deeply value and applaud those players who have already stepped up to defend the colors of our nation. Their commitment is an example of love for the homeland," Cruz expressed. The Sports headline extended a call to the players who have not yet made a decision, urging them to join the national team. "The country needs them. The homeland awaits them. This is not just a sporting event, it is a national cause," he affirmed. Cruz underscored that the World Baseball Classic transcends the competition on the field, becoming an opportunity to reaffirm the leadership of Dominican baseball globally and strengthen the unity of the Dominican people. "There is no greater pride than hearing our national anthem before a game, knowing that we represent more than ten million Dominicans who dream of seeing their flag at the top," he added. Furthermore, the minister emphasized the importance of unity among players, leaders, federations, and the entire national sports system, recalling that great achievements are reached when individual talent is put at the service of the collective goal. "It's time to unite as a nation. When talent serves the team, results come. Winning the Classic is not just lifting a trophy, it's sending a message to the world of who we are as a country," he pointed out.
