President Abinader leads graduation and swearing-in of new CESAC agents

Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Fernández Onofre, led this Thursday the graduation and oath-taking ceremony of the new agents of the Thirty-Sixth Promotion of the Basic Instruction Course for Airport Security Personnel “Eugenio María de Hostos”, of the Specialized Corps in Airport and Civil Aviation Security (CESAC), within the framework of its 29th anniversary.

During the ceremony, the president swore in the graduates, who completed their training process aimed at strengthening the security of civil aviation in the Dominican Republic. The event was attended by civil and military authorities, representatives of the aeronautical sector and families of the new agents.

The general director of CESAC, Brigadier General Pilot Enmanuel Marcelino Souffront Tamayo, stated that the institution is going through one of the periods of greatest strengthening in its history, highlighting significant advances in operational capabilities, training, and modernization during the 2024-2025 period. He reported that in that period more than 42 million security inspections were carried out, certification and quality control processes were executed in accordance with Annex 17 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and new K-9 canine teams were incorporated, strengthening the detection of threats. He also highlighted that CESAC achieved a 96.98% compliance with ICAO standards and achieved homologation from the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which puts the country on the verge of the One Stop Security agreement. Souffront Tamayo emphasized that President Abinader's presence reaffirms his Government's commitment to the security, professionalization, and modernization of specialized forces, highlighting that CESAC is advancing towards a more prepared, humane institution aligned with international standards. Finally, he urged the new agents to perform their duties with discipline, respect for human rights, and a vocation for service, reaffirming CESAC's commitment to airport security and the country's image before the world.
