Santo Domingo Este – In an unprecedented event in the municipality, the City Council of Santo Domingo Este, in alliance with Parliament & Faith International, opened this Thursday the Summit of Nations for Peace and Reconciliation, an international space designed to promote dialogue, unity and the strengthening of ethical and spiritual values among leaders from different countries.
The event will be held on October 16 and 17, 2025, at the IBO Auditorium of the Coral Mall, with the participation of politicians, religious, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and representatives from more than 10 nations, who will discuss key issues for peacebuilding, social reconciliation, and ethical leadership.You can read: Carolina Mejía shows main achievements of her management in the National District
Mayor Dío Astacio, host of the summit, highlighted that this initiative seeks to involve men and women concerned about the collective well-being and willing to work for the transformation of their countries. "We have here politicians from different parts of the world, entrepreneurs, community leaders, presidents of neighborhood councils and people committed to the common good," he affirmed. Among the topics to be addressed are religious freedom, the protection of vulnerable groups, the role of faith in public life, ethics in politics and leadership with purpose, according to Luciano Bongarrá, founder of Parliament & Faith, who thanked the local government for its support. The summit features the participation of renowned international figures such as Fabricio Alvarado (Costa Rica), Gerardo Amarilla (Uruguay), Timothy Wesco and John Crane (USA), Napoleón Ardaya (Bolivia), Carol Monderu (Kenya), Laurent Favre (Switzerland), among other leaders from different areas of public and spiritual life. This event is part of the institutional agenda of the Santo Domingo Este City Council to promote peaceful coexistence, strengthen the role of the municipality in international cooperation, and foster a culture of peace with local and global impact.
