Strong earthquake while Sheinbaum speaks at a conference in Mexico

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, had to abruptly interrupt her usual press conference this Friday after a seismic alert began to sound due to the 6.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred in this capital. "Oh, it's shaking, let's see, calmly", the president managed to say before journalists, officials, and staff from the Presidency began to evacuate the hall of the National Palace where the conference is held daily.

At that moment, the broadcast was interrupted. Only 34 minutes had passed of a meeting that usually lasts two hours on average.
The Milenio newspaper reported multiple earthquakes in the country, not only in Mexico City, since the National Seismological Service registered telluric movements in the states of Oaxaca, Baja California, Sonora and Guerrero, with a magnitude range of 4.1 to 6.5. After a few minutes, the president resumed the conference and explained that the earthquake recorded in Mexico City had an epicenter located 15 kilometers southwest of San Marcos, in Guerrero. "I spoke with the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, they are summoning the Civil Protection Council, so far it seems there is no serious damage but we are going to wait for the report from Guerrero and, in the case of Mexico City, in the first flyover that the helicopters made as a protocol, it is reported that there is also no damage, but we are going to be on the lookout," it was indicated. He also celebrated the serene reaction of the conference participants. "Thank you all, thank you for keeping calm, you were all first-rate," he said.
