Pittsburgh.- The Toronto Blue Jays received a scare this Monday when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had to leave the game against the Pirates due to stiffness in his left hamstring. The first baseman will undergo an MRI to rule out a major injury.

The moment of concern arrived in the fifth inning, when Guerrero was unexpectedly replaced by pinch hitter Ty France. Manager John Schneider explained that the discomfort arose after a defensive stretch in the third inning, a play in which Guerrero performed a “split” to complete an out at first base.
"It's okay," Schneider assured. "It was after stretching. At this point in the season everyone is carrying fatigue, and that irritated his tendon. It's just stiffness. They'll do an MRI tonight and we'll see how it evolves tomorrow."
Guerrero, who rarely misses games, had continued in action for a couple more innings before leaving as a precaution. Schneider emphasized that the decision sought to avoid complications: "I trust him, he knows himself very well. We can't afford to lose him for long, so we prefer to be cautious. We hope he can be back in one or two days."
The Dominican has been on fire in recent weeks, arriving at the series in Pittsburgh with a .333 average and a 1.012 OPS in his last 40 games, with nine home runs and 24 RBIs. His offensive contribution will be key in the final stretch of the season and in Toronto's race towards the postseason.
In the event that Guerrero has to miss some games, Ty France and Ernie Clement appear as immediate alternatives at first base. The club could also give him turns as a designated hitter to reduce the physical demand.
The results of the resonance and Guerrero's evolution will mark the next step. Meanwhile, the organization and the fans maintain the hope that everything will be a minor scare.
