In this way, Barcelona secures its star for the next six years, who will turn 18 on July 13th and this season has become the great breakthrough in world football and has been one of the fundamental pieces of the national treble - League, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España - achieved by the team of Hansi Flick.

Lamine Yamal's previous contract expired in June 2026, the maximum allowed for a youth player, the category that corresponded to the player at the time due to his age.

The release clause of the old agreement was stipulated at one billion euros, although it is unknown if the same is maintained in the renewal, as the club has not reported this detail.

Yamal's renewal, one of Laporta's objectives

Once the season concluded, the renewal of the Spanish international was one of the main objectives of the club president, Joan Laporta, and the sporting director of the Blaugrana, Anderson Luis de Souza ‘Deco’.

The player's agent, Jorge Mendes, has always insisted that the player's desire was to continue at the club he has played for since he was 7 years old, when he arrived at La Masia from CF La Torreta.

In the last week, the Portuguese representative has visited Barcelona on two occasions - the last time this Monday - to meet with the player and the Blaugrana sporting leadership with the aim of speeding up the operation.

The agreement was made official this Tuesday in an event at the Spotify Camp Nou offices, where Lamine Yamal signed his new contract accompanied by Joan Laporta, the club's sporting vice-president, Rafa Yuste, and the sporting director Anderson de Souz ‘Deco’.

Lamine Yamal, the youngest player to debut with Barcelona

Since his debut on April 29, 2023, when he became the youngest player to officially debut with the first team, at 15 years, 9 months and 16 days old, the footballer from the Rocafonda neighborhood has been rapidly progressing in professional football.

In the 2023-24 season, under the orders of Xavi Hernández, he already played 50 matches, 30 of them as a starter, in which he scored 7 goals and provided 7 assists.

He also debuted that season with the Spanish national team, becoming the youngest player to debut with the senior team at 16 years and 57 days old. A few months later, he excelled in the European Championship won by La Roja.

Undisputed Player for Flick

After being consecrated with the Spanish national team, Lamine Yamal has become an undisputed player for Hansi Flick this season.

Under the orders of the German coach, he has played a total of 55 matches, 51 as a starter. He has scored 18 goals and has become the third-highest assist provider in the major European leagues (21), including all competitions, according to data from BeSoccer Pro for the EFE Agency.

But beyond the figures, Lamine Yamal has stood out for his personality. On the big stages, whether it was a Champions League semi-final or in the clásicos against Real Madrid, the Catalan footballer has left his mark with his talent and has presented his candidacy to win the next edition of the Ballon d'Or.
