Santiago de los Caballeros. – The Ministry of Culture held the first preparatory meeting in Santiago for the 2026 carnivals, a meeting that brought together representatives of carnivals from Santiago and the Cibao region. The day is part of a series of regional meetings that the institution will hold during the month of November 2025 with the carnival sector of the country.
The meeting was led by the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, who was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Cultural Identity and Citizenship, Pastor de Moya. The main objective of this initiative is to maintain an open and constructive dialogue that allows identifying needs, challenges, and opportunities of the communities linked to the carnival.

During the meeting, delegates from the different carnival unions of the Northern region participated, considered essential actors to promote a framework of collaboration that strengthens the quality, innovation, and sustainability of the Dominican carnival. The Ministry of Culture highlighted the importance of the National Carnival Parade, which recognizes this celebration as one of the most representative expressions of Dominican popular culture. In addition, it serves as a platform to promote the visibility of the carnival industry and to disseminate artistic, cultural, and tourist practices that contribute to regional development and the strengthening of national identity.
