Symphony Season 2025 celebrates the Winners' Gala of the Santander Paloma O’Shea International Piano Competition

Santo Domingo. The Sinfonía Foundation and the National Symphony Orchestra announced the second concert of the 2025 Symphonic Season, which will delight the public with the Winners' Gala of the Santander Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition, on August 27 at the Carlos Piantini hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, at 8:30 pm. Backed by the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Fine Arts, it will be an unforgettable evening that will pay tribute to the legacy of this prestigious competition and the close relationship of its co-founder, Mrs. Margarita Copello de Rodríguez, with Mrs. Paloma O’Shea and the Albéniz Foundation. This year, as part of the 2025 Symphonic Season, three brilliant medalists from one of the world's most prestigious piano competitions will be presented. Under the masterful direction of conductors José Antonio Molina, principal conductor of the OSN, and Santy Rodríguez, assistant conductor, pianists Jaeden Izik-Dzurko (gold medal), Xiaolu Zang (silver medal), and Marcel Tadokoro (bronze medal) will be on stage.

International pianists will perform, along with the National Symphony Orchestra, three emblematic pieces: Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22, by Camille Saint-Saëns; Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor, Op. 23, by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky, and Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The Santander Paloma O’Shea International Piano Competition, founded in Spain in 1972 and held every four years, established itself as one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Its last edition was officially held in 2022. Tickets are on sale at Uepa Tickets, Fundación Sinfonía, and at the box office of the National Theater.
