Open Data Day

The Open Data Day is celebrated annually in March with the aim of publicizing the benefits and utilities of open data. Furthermore, the aim is to promote the implementation of open data policies in the governmental sector, companies, and civil society. This will allow to measure the progress of the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030, in aspects such as gender inequality and climate change.

What is open data?

The Open Data is that data that can be used, shared and distributed freely, without any restriction by copyright or patents. Some examples of open data are geographic information, mathematical and scientific formulas, chemical compounds, among other data. We recommend l For the celebration of this day, local events are held by groups around the world, made up of public servants, designers, developers, statisticians, and the general public. Open data will be used in those locations for the creation of applications, visualizations, data release, and publication of analyses.
