Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Republic's Meteorology Institute (INDOMET) forecast that this Thursday, in a large part of the national territory, the sky will be mostly sunny, with few clouds and slightly gray, due to the low humidity content and slight Saharan dust particles.
In that sense, the occurrence of some local showers is expected with possible thunderstorms and isolated wind gusts over Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Azua, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elías Piña, Monte Plata and Hato Mayor, especially in the mid-afternoon, as a result of the incidence of the trough at high levels, the local effects (daytime heating and orography) plus the wind drag. For the night, we will have a starry sky with some cloud increases, without significant precipitation.
However, tomorrow Friday, we will have a similar pattern to the previous day, where a sunny and opaque environment with a grayish appearance will predominate throughout the country, due to the incursion of Saharan dust particles. While for the afternoon, local showers with thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind will be generated again in La Vega, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña and Santiago Rodríguez, due to the incidence of the trough.
Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico or America:
Hurricane Imelda is located about 435 km west/southwest of Bermuda, with winds of 155 km/h with higher gusts. It is moving east/northeast at 31 km/h. Due to its position and movement, it does not pose a threat to the country.
We are reporting on a low-pressure area near the Bahamas on the northwest side, with a low probability (10%) of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 and seven days. We are also reporting on a tropical wave that will be leaving the western coasts of Africa, with a 20% probability of developing into a tropical cyclone in seven days.
Due to the warm southeast wind, temperatures will remain hot. Consequently, we suggest drinking enough water, wearing light-colored clothing, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure without protection, mainly from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
