Miami.- The President of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, received this Friday in Miami a recognition from Florida International University (FIU), in which he participated in a forum on 'Leadership in Latin America'.

The leader was honored with the Champion of Freedom award, which is given by the FIU's Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom.

Chaves completed his third and penultimate year in office this Thursday, which has been marked by positive macroeconomic results, the growing number of homicides in the Central American country, and the constant confrontation with the other branches of government and the press critical of his administration.

The recognition, which highlights the commitment to economic freedom, human rights, and democracy, comes at a time when President Chaves' policies have shown tangible results, according to his allies.
