They present a pre-selection that will play in the Softball World Cup

SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Republic will be part of group-B, along with Australia, Japan, and the United States, in the Men's Softball World Cup, organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

The Prime Ministers' Ballpark, in Prince Albert Canada, will host the event from July 8th to 13th, where the teams from Argentina, New Zealand, Venezuela, and the Canadian hosts, who make up group A, are also summoned.

The first game of the tournament will be between the Dominicans and Japan, at 11:30 in the morning (Eastern Time); the second game will be between Venezuela and Argentina; and then USA versus Australia and closing New Zealand against Canada.

According to the WBSC-Softball scheme, the first round will be a round-robin format by groups, where it is established that the top two teams from each group advance to the Super Round, to determine the winners who go to the final match.

The Criollos also open the second day against Australia (11:30); and USA and Japan continue; Canada against Venezuela and New Zealand against Argentina. In the closing of the regular round, the Dominican Republic faces the USA; Venezuela faces New Zealand; Australia faces Japan and closing the round, Argentina and Canada.

The selective Creole team qualified for the World Cup in the XII Pan American Softball Championship for seniors, held in Eduardo Porras Arrazola in Sincelejo, Colombia, where, with eight indisputable hits and supported by the pitching of Michael Batista and Rosarin José Bautista, the bronze medal was achieved and they advanced to the World Cup qualifying phase.

In the qualifying round, the Dominicans secured the first ticket by dominating Group-A, which played in Hermosillo/Mexico, with an electrifying victory over Venezuela, supported by an extraordinary pitching performance by Yan Carlos –El Pinto- González, in a game that concluded two runs to zero.

The selective Creole team finished ahead of the teams from Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Venezuela, and the Mexican hosts.
