In addition to the overall achievement, Valdez joins an even more exclusive group, becoming only the third Dominican left-handed pitcher to reach that figure, along with Francisco Liriano (1,181) and Wandy Rodríguez (1,573).
The milestone came during a brilliant performance on Monday's game, in which Valdez pitched 6.0 innings, allowed only 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks and struck out 12 batters. Despite his dominance, he left without a decision, due to the lack of offensive support at the key moment of the game.

25° dominicano en alcanzar los 1,000 K
3er zurdo dominicano en lograrlo (junto a Liriano y Wandy)

At 31 years old, Valdez has established himself as a key piece in the rotation of the Houston Astros, thanks to his control, durability, and ability to generate missed swings. Since his debut in 2018, he has accumulated multiple impact seasons, including an All-Star Game appearance and a leading role in the postseason. Data: Erick Lantigua.
