Centro Cultural Banreservas Santiago inaugurates its first exhibitions with works by Domingo Batista and Cibao artists

Santiago, R.D. – The Banreservas Santiago Cultural Center inaugurated its first exhibitions: “Paths of Light, Paths of Earth,” by master photographer Domingo Batista; and “Cibaeños in the Banreservas Visual Arts Collection,” which brings together works by renowned artists from the region. Alieska Díaz, Senior Executive Vice President of Administration, expressed that the Banreservas Cultural Center of Santiago was born to showcase the different cultural expressions in the same space of integration, where painters, sculptors, writers, and poets converge, contributing to the spiritual enrichment of people. "With both exhibitions, we wanted to highlight the importance we give to this new home for art in all its manifestations," Díaz pointed out. Domingo Batista thanked the Banreservas Cultural Center for presenting his creations to the public. On her part, Gladialisa Pereyra, Culture Manager of Santiago, highlighted that "Paths of light, paths of earth" transcends as a retrospective to become a sensory dialogue with the soul of the Dominican landscape. The cultural manager added that in each photograph a gesture of love for the country is perceived, an act of gratitude to the landscape and an affirmation that beauty is also a territory of identity. The exhibition has been curated by the Centro León, an institution that safeguards the funds of the renowned Santiago photographer.
For her part, Gina Rodríguez, director of the Santiago Museum of Art, explained that the exhibition "Cibaeños in the Banreservas Visual Arts Collection" pays homage to essential figures from the northern region such as Cuquito Peña, Alberto Ulloa, Carlos Hinojosa, Danicel, Justo Susana, Antonio Guadalupe, Rafy Vásquez, Marianela Jiménez, Dionisio Pichardo, José Félix Moya, Rosa Tavárez, Jorge Severino and Cándido Bidó. Rodríguez emphasized that this collection reaffirms Banreservas' commitment to the preservation and promotion of national art, especially that which originates from the Cibao, a region that not only feeds the country, but has also produced some of its most outstanding artists. The exhibitions remain open to the public from December 4th until the month of March in the historic building of the former Hotel Mercedes, now home to the Banreservas Santiago Cultural Center.
Prominent figures from art and culture, civil authorities, artists, entrepreneurs, and Banreservas executives attended the opening ceremony.
