President Abinader leads graduation of 40 new cadets of the Dominican Air Force

Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader led this Friday the graduation ceremony of the twenty-fourth promotion of cadets of the Dominican Republic Air Force, composed of 40 new officers —34 men and 6 women— who obtained the rank of second lieutenant and the title of Bachelor of Aeronautical Sciences.

The president was received with traditional military honors, including a 21-gun salute. The main speech was delivered by the director of the Air Academy, pilot colonel Francisco Antonio de los Santos Álvarez, who highlighted the commitment and discipline of the graduates and emphasized the institutional advances achieved with the support of President Abinader: acquisition of AW-169 aircraft, operational modernization, a new control tower, and the assembly of the TP-75 Dulus.

De los Santos Álvarez noted that the cadets received academic, military, and technical training, specializing as aviator pilots, aviation technicians, and surface officers, in addition to courses in military intelligence, human rights, airport security, and infantry. He also highlighted that they won the 2025 Inter-Academy Games championship. During the ceremony, the religious invocation, the change of guard, and the delivery of sabers and insignias took place. President Abinader took the oath of honor and received a commemorative model and an emblematic jacket as recognitions. The event was attended by the Minister of Defense, senior military officials, government and academic authorities, who highlighted the importance of strengthening the preparation of officers to face the challenges of national security and defense.
