Haitian police say they destroyed a house belonging to the criminal leader 'Barbecue'

Port-au-Prince.- A house belonging to the criminal leader Jimmy Cherisier, alias Barbecue, was destroyed this Wednesday by a kamikaze drone during an operation by the Haitian National Police at the gang leader's headquarters, in Delmas 6, in the center of Port-au-Prince, authorities confirmed.

"This operation aims to dismantle all the terrorist bandits occupying this neighborhood, in order to restore peace," according to a statement published by the Police's communications department on its Facebook account, which does not mention any victims. In a video circulating on social media, a house that is totally different from the others is seen, with at least a dozen solar panels underneath, hit by a kamikaze drone. After the explosion, an intense cloud of smoke is seen, according to an image from a drone taken at one minute and 17 seconds. In the circulating photos, a completely destroyed house is seen, along with remnants of clothing, wrought iron, and a wrecked car.

This operation is led by the PNH, in collaboration with the Haitian Armed Forces (FAD'H), the task force created by Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aime, and the Band Repression Force (FRG), created by the United Nations Security Council The authorities barely communicate information about the operation, as they used to do, for example, by publishing data on X. So, the information trickles out on social media, while the population waits to know more details about these operations.
