Trump insists he will intervene in Minnesota "if forced"

New York. - The president of the United States, Donald Trump, insisted this Friday that he will intervene in the state of Minnesota to stop the protests against the actions of the agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) "if he is forced" and assured that if he does so, he will resolve the situation "quickly and effectively".

"If I am forced to act, I will resolve it quickly and effectively," Trump assured in a message on his social network, Truth Social.

The leader accused the "rioters, agitators, and insurgents" who are demonstrating against the presence of the agents in the city of being "very well-paid professionals". "The governor and the mayor don't know what to do, they have completely lost control and, at this moment, they are leaving us useless!" he added. The message from the leader arrives a day after he threatened to activate the Insurrection Act in the state if attacks against ICE continue. "If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don't obey the law and don't stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists who are attacking ICE patriots, who are just trying to do their job, I will invoke the Insurrection Act, something many presidents have done before me," he wrote. This 1807 law is one of the most powerful emergency powers that allows the president to deploy the Army to suppress episodes of civil disorder. The last time it was used was in 1992, under the mandate of George H.W. Bush (1989-1993) in California in response to the civil unrest recorded in Los Angeles after the acquittal of four white police officers accused of beating an African-American driver. Since the president deployed immigration agents in Minneapolis, despite the rejection of the mayor, Jacob Frey, and the state governor, Tim Walz, a woman has died after receiving several shots from one of the officers and a man was injured by shots in the leg by another. The city's residents have taken to the streets to protest against ICE agents. Among other things, they have launched fireworks at the officers after the latter used tear gas and stun grenades to dissuade them. Dozens of people have been arrested for clashes with officers during the protests.
