Santo Domingo.- Despite direct warnings about the deterioration of the Jet Set Club's roof, Maribel Espaillat decided not to suspend the party held on the night of April 7, 2025, an action that the Public Ministry qualifies as a negligent decision with fatal consequences.
According to the indictment, minutes before the collapse, Gregorio Adames Arias, former Jet Set employee, notified Maribel Espaillat about the detachment of the ceiling around 11:40 p.m., where one of the panels fell on Remberto José Durán, a client who was in the establishment.
Following this incident, Adames went to Maribel Espaillat, the establishment's manager, telling her that she should cancel the party, and she refused, responding that "it was not possible, because only Antonio could order something like that, and he was out of the country", allowing the activity to continue.
Finally, at 12:44 a.m. on April 8, while Rubby Pérez's orchestra was playing the song “De Color de Rosa”, the roof collapsed, causing the death of 235 people and leaving more than 180 injured among the audience, employees, and musicians. This detail of the file reinforces the accusation of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which maintains that both Antonio and Maribel Espaillat acted with reckless imprudence, ignoring clear warnings about the structural situation of the premises and prioritizing the holding of the event over the safety of hundreds of people.
