Ohtani reaches five consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs

Los Angeles. — Shohei Ohtani continues to rewrite the history books. The Japanese superstar of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit his 30th home run of the season on Tuesday night in the 6-1 victory over the White Sox, becoming the first National League player to reach that figure in 2025.

With this home run, Ohtani adds his fifth consecutive season with at least 30 home runs, further solidifying his status as one of the most consistent and explosive hitters in Major League Baseball. It is also the third time he has surpassed 30 home runs before the All-Star break, something he had already achieved in 2021 and 2023.
The stellar designated hitter had failed to get a hit in his first two at-bats against the White Sox's starting pitcher, Shane Smith. However, with a 3-2 count and two outs in the fourth inning, Ohtani took advantage of a slider in the inner zone to deposit the ball 408 feet away in right field, with an exit velocity of 116.3 mph and a flight time close to seven seconds.

This home run not only unleashed euphoria in Dodger Stadium, but also reaffirmed Ohtani's power in a season where he shares second place in home runs across all of Major League Baseball with Aaron Judge (30), only behind Cal Raleigh (33), of the Mariners.

Ohtani's impact goes beyond his statistics. His combination of power, discipline, and opportunity continues to make a difference in the Angels' lineup, which leads its division and seeks to maintain the pace towards the second half of the season. Fans will have a new reason to celebrate this Saturday, when Ohtani takes the ball as a starter against the Astros on his 31st birthday, in what promises to be another spectacle of the Japanese phenomenon.
