Toronto, Canada – September 9, 2025. Toronto Blue Jays shortstop, Bo Bichette, was placed on the 10-day injured list this Tuesday due to a left knee sprain, a consequence of a collision at the plate that occurred during Saturday's game against the New York Yankees.

The move, retroactive to Sunday, forced the Canadian organization to make an immediate roster adjustment. To take his place, outfielder Joey Loperfido was called up from the Triple-A Buffalo affiliate. Despite the collision, the encounter was interrupted by rain and Bichette was able to continue in action after the resumption, although the Blue Jays ultimately fell 3-1 at Yankee Stadium. However, the star shortstop was not in the Sunday lineup and medical tests confirmed the injury. Bichette's absence is a significant blow for Toronto in the final stretch of the season, as the 27-year-old player has been one of the most consistent pieces in the franchise's offense and defense. With the absence of the star infielder, manager John Schneider will have to reconfigure the infield and rely on the depth of the roster to remain competitive in the fight for the postseason.
