The Chinese manufacturer Nubia presented the new nubia Air in the country, a smartphone that joins the segment of slim devices like the iPhone Air or the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. In this case, with a model that has a 5.9mm thick casing on the frame of the device and 6.7mm on the camera block. The phone, which was presented worldwide in September, will go on sale in Argentina in two weeks for an initial price of 529,999 pesos. The amount places it at the opposite end of the spectrum: while Samsung and Apple target a premium market, Nubia prefers to bring the "super thin phone" concept to a more massive segment. It doesn't do it for free: although interesting in its combination, the hardware is far from being top-of-the-line (nor does it aspire to be), while maintaining a very sober design. The Nubia Air has a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution (1224 x 2720 pixels) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, and has IP69 dust, splash, and water jet protection certification.

To make it slim, Nubia used an aluminum alloy for the frame, which makes it light (172 grams, against the 200 grams of a conventional smartphone) while allowing it to mount a 5000 mAh battery with 33-watt fast charging. The phone has an eight-core Unisoc processor and 8 GB of RAM, which can be expanded with another 12 GB of virtual RAM, and an internal capacity of 256 GB. The battery, of 5000mAh, withstands more than a thousand charge cycles and has AI energy-saving technology. It also has NFC, 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The camera system has a 50-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and AI functions that help keep videos stable and improve quality in low-light or nighttime situations. It also includes AI editing tools for photos, such as Magic Editor and Magic Eraser. The Nubia Air has another camera to measure image depth (for photos with the background out of focus) and a third sensor to assist with photography. It also offers noise cancellation combining AI with two microphones, an under-screen fingerprint sensor, and the integrated Google Gemini assistant, which enables more AI features such as Rodea's visual search to search or real-time translation during phone calls.
