Scarce rainfall will continue over a large part of the country, according to Indomet

Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Republic's Meteorology Institute (INDOMET), predicted that today, Monday; during the morning hours, the meteorological conditions in our forecast area will not present significant changes regarding the occurrence and intensity of precipitation over a large part of the country. Similarly, I detail that a mostly sunny sky will be observed. While in the afternoon, until the early hours of the night, we foresee occasional cloud increases generating local showers over different towns in the interior of the country, mainly those located in the provinces: Monte Plata, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Barahona, Azua, San Cristóbal, among others, due to local effects (daytime and orographic heating), as well as a weak trough with little humidity north of the island, over the Atlantic Ocean. Regarding marine conditions: on the Atlantic coast, specifically from Cabo Engaño in (Altagracia) to Cabo Cabrón (Samaná), we recommend navigating with caution near the coastal perimeter without venturing out to sea due to abnormal waves. We anticipate that conditions will gradually return to normal during the day. Meanwhile, on the Caribbean coast, currently without any recommendations for consideration.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, in the morning hours, rainfall will remain limited in almost the entire national territory. However, the prevailing east/northeast wind and the incidence of a weak prefrontal trough north of the island over the Atlantic Ocean will transport occasional clouds generating isolated showers of short duration, mainly in some municipalities of: Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hato Mayor, El Seibo and La Altagracia. Meanwhile, after midday, until the early hours of the night, a trough and local effects, related to daytime heating and the orography of the Dominican territory, will cause occasional cloud increases accompanied by weak to moderate rainfall for brief periods and possible isolated thunderstorms in different towns of the aforementioned provinces, as well as San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, La Vega, Baoruco, Pedernales, Monte Cristi, Dajabón and Valverde. The temperatures during the nights and early mornings will be cool and pleasant due to the time of year, mainly in mountainous areas and inland valleys of the country, where occasional fogs and mists could occur. National District: mostly sunny skies. Santo Domingo Norte: Isolated clouds. Santo Domingo Este: scarce cloudiness. Santo Domingo Oeste: few clouds. Minimum temperatures between 20 °C and 22 °C and the maximum between 30 °C and 32 °C. Summary: During the morning, we will observe a mostly sunny sky over a large part of the country. However, after midday, local effects (daytime heating and orographic), as well as a weak trough with little humidity, located north of the island over the Atlantic Ocean, will cause occasional cloud cover increases generating isolated showers and local downpours in different locations of the country, mainly in the regions; northeast, southeast, southwest, Central Mountain Range and some border towns. On Wednesday, mainly after midday, we anticipate cloud cover increases associated with a weak trough, in addition to the influence of the east/northeast wind. This combination will cause local showers over different provinces of the regions: northeast, southeast (including Greater Santo Domingo) and Atlantic coast. However, for the rest of the country, a mostly sunny sky, free of precipitation, will prevail.
