Israel intensifies offensive against Iran with attacks on 12 military facilities amid growing escalation

Jerusalem / Tehran. — The conflict between Israel and Iran reached its fifth consecutive day of intense cross-attacks this Tuesday, with new explosions recorded in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem after the launch of missiles from Iranian territory. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded with an "extensive" air offensive against at least 12 strategic Iranian targets, which further exacerbates regional tension and increases the risk of open war.

According to Israeli military sources, the bombings hit surface-to-surface missile depots, anti-aircraft missile launchers, and drone storage centers located in western Iran. The government of Israel maintains that these attacks seek to weaken Tehran's armament capacity, especially its alleged development of nuclear technology for military purposes. Iran, for its part, denies these accusations and called the offensive an "unjustified aggression." During the early hours of the morning, air raid sirens were activated in several Israeli cities, while their defense system intercepted several missiles. No fatalities have been reported so far, but material damage was recorded in some urban areas.

In the midst of the crisis, former US President Donald Trump sparked international alarm by posting an urgent message on his Truth Social network from the G7 summit in Canada: “Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately!”. Hours later, Trump left the summit early and returned to Washington, assuring that his decision “has nothing to do with a ceasefire”, and warning that it is “something much bigger”.

The international community reacted with concern. G7 leaders made a joint call to reach a "resolution of the Iranian crisis that leads to a broader de-escalation in the Middle East". Likewise, the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom urged Iran to return to the nuclear negotiating table as soon as possible, without preconditions. The escalation between Israel and Iran revives fears of a prolonged direct confrontation, with potential implications for the entire region. For the moment, no new diplomatic talks or concrete mediation proposals have been announced.
