VBC-RD Trust advances in the completion of several works in Ciudad Juan Bosch

Santo Domingo.– The Trust for the Construction of Low-Cost Housing of the Dominican Republic (Fideicomiso VBC-RD) reported on the progress in the execution of the main infrastructure and equipment works in Ciudad Juan Bosch, reaffirming the commitment to deliver projects of great social impact for thousands of families residing in this community.

Engineer Alexis Montes de Oca, director of the Technical Analysis and Supervision Unit of the VBC-RD Trust, explained that the constructions have not stopped and that, although the rains and the importation of some materials have caused delays in certain processes, the works maintain a constant and progressive pace towards their completion.

Progress in the Amphitheater and La Gaviota Square

Montes de Oca explained that Plaza La Gaviota is 95% complete, while the amphitheater is 85% complete. This space, which covers about 40,000 square meters, will have large green areas, playgrounds, gazebos, bathrooms, exercise areas, benches, and recreational areas.

“The gazebos, hard and exercise areas are already completed. The bathrooms are ready except for painting details and the children's areas are in the process of installing the games and placing silica sand,” he specified.

Regarding the Sports Complex, Montes de Oca reported that the sports center and its multipurpose facility have a 95% progress in access roads and services.

"The multipurpose hall will be a versatile space for the practice of basketball, volleyball, badminton and handball, as well as disciplines such as judo, taekwondo, karate, boxing, ballet and gymnastics. This complex will be able to accommodate between 3,500 and 4,000 people, becoming a sporting reference for the entire area," he indicated.

Engineer Byron Gordon, in charge of projects for the construction company O'Reilly and Associates, detailed that the work is 90% complete and that they are currently working on the front facade, roof installation, and paving.

Regarding the second water tank, Montes de Oca reported that the pedestal where the 6,000 cubic meter (1.6 million gallon) regulating tank will rest is already completed, which will arrive in the country in the coming months with vitrified steel technology.

“Se trata de una obra de ingeniería pesada que garantizará el suministro continuo de agua potable para los residentes de Ciudad Juan Bosch. Aunque las lluvias han ralentizado los trabajos de movimiento de tierra y terminación, la construcción nunca se ha detenido”,

puntualizó.

Regarding the commitment to incorporate 50 OMSA buses to reinforce the routes of Ecológica Avenue and the Hipódromo, as well as to establish a new direct route to the Santo Domingo Metro, Montes de Oca explained that the initial agreement was assumed by the previous management of OMSA. However, a meeting has already been coordinated with the new director and his team.

“Now it is time to revisit the issue with the new authorities of the institution to ensure the continuity of what was agreed. We trust that this promise will be fulfilled, as the units were already budgeted,” he said.

Residents' Opinion

Neighbors like Ana Hernández, a resident of the El Sembrador V residential complex, and Isabel Herrera, from La Marquesa, confirmed that the work has not stopped and that they perceive sustained progress.

"They're going fast, they haven't stopped, even at night you can see them working," Ana expressed. While Isabel affirmed that "since they started, they haven't stopped; this work will be very useful for us to enjoy ourselves."
