Banco Agrícola reaffirms its transparency and highlights historic growth in support of the Dominican countryside

Santo Domingo.– The Agricultural Bank of the Dominican Republic (Bagrícola) reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, regulation, and the strengthening of the agricultural sector, highlighting the progress made during the last five years of management, a period in which the entity has recorded historic growth in its loan portfolio and in the resources allocated to the field. The institution reported that at the end of last year its credit portfolio reached 56.769 million pesos, which represents an increase of 87% compared to 2020. In that same period, accumulated disbursements exceeded 157.510 million pesos, evidencing a significant increase in financing to agricultural producers throughout the country. The Agricultural Bank specified that only in 2024, 27,133 million pesos were disbursed in loans, denying versions that have circulated in some spaces that, according to the entity, seek to misinform about the management of its resources.

More than 60% of the financing that reaches the Dominican countryside is channeled through the Agricultural Bank, playing a key role in national food security, especially in a sector highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change and natural phenomena.

Audited Funds and International Cooperation

The entity explained that it manages national and international funds from organizations such as CONALECHE, FEDA, the European Union, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), all subject to strict monitoring, auditing and independent evaluation. Thanks to these results, the Agricultural Bank has been evaluated as a reliable, efficient, and transparent executor, a condition that has allowed it to access new financing programs and institutional strengthening.

Recovery of credits and historical liquidity

Over the last five years, the institution has recovered an average of 24.68 billion pesos annually from loan collection, almost 50% more than in previous administrations. These resources, the entity explained, are directly reinvested in new financing for producers. For the year 2025, Banco Agrícola reports the highest liquidity of the last decade, with a record of 4,175 million pesos disbursed in December alone.

Regulation, Compliance, and Modernization

El Bagrícola highlighted the advances in regulation and supervision, emphasizing that since 2021 it maintains daily reports to the Superintendency of Banks and the Central Bank, in addition to having created a Compliance Management and an anti-money laundering prevention system.

Finally, Banco Agrícola reiterated that political sympathy is not a criterion for granting credits, and that all loans are granted in accordance with current regulations, with the aim of continuing to promote the development of the countryside and guaranteeing the country's food security.
