A man accused of stealing electricity meters is sentenced to 3 months in prison.

Santo Domingo.- The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo Oeste imposed three months of preventive detention as a coercive measure against a man accused of alleged theft of electric meters, property of Edesur Dominicana, in the Buenos Aires sector of Herrera. The court ruled that the alleged culprit, Amilka Eduardo Durán, should serve the sentence in the National Penitentiary of La Victoria, Edesur indicated in a statement.

During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor's Office presented as evidence a record where the elements and instruments seized from the accused on November 25 are recorded, as part of the investigation proceedings being carried out. Edesur assured that it maintains its "firm commitment to collaborate closely with the competent authorities within the framework of judicial processes that seek the protection of public goods and the security of the national electricity system, as well as due sanction, with strict adherence to the law".
