DR projects itself as a Health, Investment and Migration Hub in international conference in Madrid

Madrid, Spain. — Within the framework of FITUR 2026, the Centro de Estudios Financieros (CEF) of Madrid hosted the international conference “Beyond Tourism: Dominican Republic as a Hub for Health, Investment, and Migration”, a space for strategic analysis that brought together international experts, institutional representatives, diplomatic corps, the private sector, and the media.

The event aimed to present a comprehensive vision of the Dominican Republic as a country that transcends traditional tourism and is consolidating as a benchmark in health tourism, strategic investment, and responsible migration, key areas for its international positioning.

The day began with the screening of the video "The Story of Tatica," a human testimony that connected attendees with the emotional and social dimension of migration, highlighting the importance of building bridges of opportunity between countries. During the conference, prominent high-level professionals participated. Lawyer Yudith Félix, a specialist in immigration law for the United States, Europe, and Canada, addressed the different types of visas and the essential elements for an orderly and legal migration. For his part, Timothy Tubbs, former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), offered practical guidance for visa protection and the prevention of migration risks. The panel also featured the participation of Dr. Tania Medina, a plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgeon of international recognition, who analyzed the positioning of the Dominican Republic as a competitive and reliable destination in health tourism. Likewise, psychologist Milly Féliz, winner of the Dominican Emigrant Award, spoke about migratory grief and the importance of emotional support in international mobility processes. The conference was supported by important sponsors, including the General Customs Directorate of the Dominican Republic, the Institute of Dominicans and Dominicans Abroad (INDEX), El Imperio del Mofongo, ARS Humano and Carlos Rosario Aesthetic Medicine, as well as the presence of members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited in Spain. With this initiative, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its commitment to a model of integral, sustainable, and human development, strengthening its international image as a country of opportunities in health, investment, and responsible migration.
