SANTO DOMINGO.– The weather forecast in Dominican Republic, today Saturday, June 28, 2025, warns of a significant increase in rainfall due to the incidence of a trough combined with local effects and the approach of tropical wave number 12. These conditions will generate high humidity and favor the formation of cloudiness, accompanied by moderate to heavy showers, electrical storms and isolated wind gusts in several provinces of the national territory.

The northeast, southeast, southwest regions, the Central Mountain Range, and the border area will be the most affected. Among the provinces under alert for rain are: Santo Domingo and its municipalities, the National District, San Cristóbal, La Altagracia, El Seibo, La Romana, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Plata, La Vega, Santiago, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, San José de Ocoa, Azua, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, and Elías Piña.

Despite being in the middle of summer, the weather in the Dominican Republic is expected to have slightly pleasant temperatures in mountainous areas and areas with higher rainfall, thanks to the cool northeast wind. Maximum temperatures will range between 32 °C and 34 °C, and minimums between 21 °C and 23 °C.

Conditions by demarcation:

  • National District: Cloudy from midday, with showers and thunderstorms until the early hours of the night.

Sunday with more rain and possible low pressure in the weather in Dominican Republic

For tomorrow, Sunday, June 29th, in the Dominican Republic's weather, an increase in rainfall is expected, with thunderstorms and more widespread wind gusts, under the combined effects of the trough and tropical wave #12. In addition, a zone of showers and thunderstorms associated with a low pressure area over the Yucatan Peninsula is being monitored, which has a 30% probability of cyclonic development in the next 48 hours. However, this system does not pose a threat to the Dominican Republic due to its distance and displacement.
