Santo Domingo. - According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), the atmospheric conditions in the morning hours will not show appreciable changes, a sunny environment and scarce rainfall will reign in almost the entire country, although some isolated and passing showers are not ruled out towards the provinces: Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez.
In the afternoon, the remnants of the front system will combine with the prevailing east/northeast wind, local effects (daytime heating and orographic) and the incidence of a tropical wave with rapid westward displacement, to give rise to the occurrence of moderate to heavy showers locally, thunderstorms and wind gusts, mainly over the provinces: El Gran Santo Domingo, La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Puerto Plata, Valverde, Monte Cristi, Dajabón, San Juan, San José de Ocoa, Hermanas Mirabal, Espaillat, Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, Azua and Samaná. At night and early morning, rainfall will gradually decrease, however, isolated and passing precipitation will continue to occur towards the towns near the Atlantic and Caribbean coastlines.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, from dawn, significant cloud developments will occur, accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall at times, thunderstorms, and wind gusts. These atmospheric conditions will be associated with an active tropical wave, which, combined with the humidity and instability present over our forecast area, will keep the environment very conducive to the formation of significant clouds. These rains will be affecting several provinces of the Dominican Republic, mainly those located in the regions; northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, Central Mountain Range, and the border area.
MARITIME CONDITIONS: On the Atlantic coast, we recommend that operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels remain in port, due to strong winds and dangerous waves. Likewise, we suggest bathers and users consult local authorities before using the beaches, due to possible breakers, rip currents and groundswell. On the Caribbean coast, normal maritime conditions, however, this afternoon the waves will begin to progressively deteriorate offshore.
Due to the rainfall and the forecast, we are keeping several provinces on alert and weather warning due to the risk of urban and rural flooding, as well as rivers, streams and ravines, mainly in different vulnerable locations.
